Hickman, Anya
Welcome to Kindergarten and First Grade Congratulations! You are the proud parent of a Gifted Kindergarten or Gifted First Grade student at Beasley Academic Center. My name is Ms. Anya Hickman and it is my pleasure to be your child’s teacher this year. In our classroom, your child will encounter many activities to stimulate learning. Please help your child meet new challenges each day by seeing that they are properly prepared for school each morning. Remember, good or bad school habits begin NOW! I feel that communication is the key to a great parent-teacher relationship. I will communicate via newsletters, notes, parent-teacher conferences, phone calls, email, progress reports, and report cards. I am looking forward to a very exciting and fun year. If at any time you have any questions, please do not hesitate to let me know. I want Kindergarten to be a wonderful experience for all of us. Teacher’s Philosophy I believe that each student brings different experiences to the classroom and has a unique way of learning; therefore students learn at different rates. I also believe that teachers and parents are responsible for the formal learning of the child. Parents should work alongside with the teacher in partnership to ensure that skills and concepts are reinforced at home. Although academic excellence is very important, it is equally important that we help children develop socially, physically, and intellectually as well.
